OMG! I Just Unpublished a Post!
Those of you who’ve followed me for eons know that I have a podcast. Spotify for Podcasters updated its platform and it’s now super-difficult to navigate around. I was trying to edit something and accidentally unpublished my August show. I immediately fixed it and it’s all good now. Thank goodness.
Weekend was great. Went to a cousin’s baby’s 100 Day celebration at a restaurant in Richmond Hill. It’s a seafood focused restaurant and I was very worried that I couldn’t eat anything - my cousin’s wife sent me a copy of the menu and there was a lot of seafood that I basically don’t eat. Since my husband doesn’t eat it at all, they said he could order something that was seafood-free. I had contemplated doing the same (I don’t eat much red meat, which was what my husband had), but something plant-based, but luckily, some changes had been made and all was good. I could eat around the shellfish (most dishes had loads of vegetables) and the only two courses I didn’t eat at all were soup (bird’s next soup) and lobster. It was too bad the fried rice was seafood based though. But noodles were okay. I’m not exactly 100% gluten-free, so I ate that. It was pretty standard stuff though.
Many of you know that I purchase half my groceries online and get it delivered. I rarely drive, so delivery is the next best thing. I’ve been having issues lately. First of all, the online store I’ve been using since the pandemic began, a Toronto based independent market, has had major supply issues. There’s virtually no produce selection at all. WTF?? And then third party apps have had problems too. I’ve had people send me incorrect orders (even after communicating with them while they were shopping) and things being sent to the wrong address completely (as in they didn’t even come). One store moved from Instacart to Uber, perhaps for that very reason. Unfortunately, Uber won’t let you edit your cart/add new items after you submit. Which is too bad. And it’s a bit more expensive as well. Luckily, I have a subscription for both, so it helps just slightly on my budget. But it’s still not great. Maybe I need to start shopping for new stores. Then there was the guy who didn’t bother to communicate with me re an expiry date for keto hummus. Good thing I Googled whether hummus was freezer-friendly. I froze it immediately and extended its life another four or so days. So now the expiry date is four days from the thaw. Yay.
Anyway, that’s what I have so far. I have a new episode of Cynthia Talks Life dropping on Thursday, so STAY TUNED!
